Well, we arrived safely in Tucson on the evening of March 30, after an incredibly long flight over the ocean. We didn't get to sit together, so in spite of the good food and great entertainment selection, we slept very little. It really is impossible to get comfortable with a stranger just inches away in the seat next to you! At the end of it all was a wonderful welcoming committee of parents and siblings that had us all in (happy) tears.
The next few days were a complete whirlwind of family events and wedding preparations. Luckily we had little to do except show up and look gorgeous, which means that we owe our families a huge debt of gratitude for the countless hours they put in making all the events so successful. I may post some more wedding pictures, but in the meantime check out the blog post that Emery (our friend and 1/3 of the brilliant Emery-Chris-April photographer trio) put together here.
One favorite among the many excellent photos:
Rather than risk covering ourselves with chocolate cake, we opted to feed each other the lovely pansies that decorated it (fresh from Nate's garden! :)* * *
Sean celebrated his homecoming with a hike through Pima Canyon, one of his most beloved hikes and one that he has done annually for the past ten years or so. The desert was quite green from the recent rains and the wildflowers were just getting going.
The weather has been beautiful, helping to ease us back into desert living. The last few weeks since the wedding have been full visiting friends and family, another wedding, helping siblings move, the odd landscaping job, cooking and staying with our awesome and generous friends, Chris, Emery and baby Noah. We felt blessed our entire time in New Zealand and the last few weeks have been a reminder of how much we have to have to be thankful for! We'll have more to come soon!
Welcome home! I can tell from the pictures and from what I hear from Emery and Chris that the wedding was absolutely beautiful. I'm so happy for you two and wish you the very best in your life together. Hope to see you while you're in town! xo
