Berkeley and Around

The next few days in Berkeley and San Fran were very relaxing and fun. Claire gave us, and her aunt and uncle who were also visiting, a little tour of campus and downtown Berkeley. We had lunch at a great salad and sandwich shop that had giant portions perfect for sharing.

Melons at the Berkeley Bowl, the best grocery store we've ever seen.
It had twice as much produce as 17th St. Market, bulk and snacks to rival Sunflower and a natural foods selection as extensive, but far cheaper than Whole Foods. Dreamy...

The next day, we headed back into the big city to check out the beach and spend the afternoon at Golden Gate Park. We spent hours sitting on a blanket on the grass, reading, snacking and chatting. Just lovely.

We also walked around the Dahlia Garden...

Our last day there was the 4th of July and with Claire's boyfriend Jon in town we made a festive meal and finished by watching the fireworks over the bay.

Us and Jon, and a flag that a friend gifted Claire for the occasion
